Not surprisingly both the shingles yield different wind resistance ratings. 3-tab shingles are generally rated for wind up to approximately 60 mph. Where Architectural shingles are typically rated for wind up to 80 to 120 mph. Life Span
Architectural shingles generally have a longer lifespan because of their durability and high-quality. They can stand up better to wind, heat, snow, ice and rain. Architectural shingles are considered the 30 year shingles and have an average lifespan of 20 to 25 years with the best conditions. 3-tab shingles on the other hand only last 7 to 10 years with only up to 15 years with the best conditions.
